Suddenly finding himself in the Sengoku era, regular high school student Yoshiharu Sagara is about to be killed in the battlefield. He is saved by none other than the man who later becomes the respected Hideyoshi Toyotomi but at a cost to the latter's life. With history completely changed because of Yoshiharu's actions, he tries to make things right again. However, history takes a different course than the one he learned. Yoshiharu meets a brilliant but young girl named Nobuna Oda. Yoshiharu starts working under her command, who nicknames him Saru (monkey), to bring back history to its correct course and find his way back home to the present world.
I&#39;m not a Japanese history buff, so for those who are, don&#39;t get mad if I say I don&#39;t know how closely this story follows Japan&#39;s history…although having all the important generals and historical figures as women probably isn&#39;t correct to begin with…<br/><br/>Overall though, this show was fun. Not overly original, it still had interesting characters, a good story with plenty of action and great animation…<br/><br/>It revolves around Yoshiharu Sagara, a high school kid who somehow finds himself in medieval Japan in the time of the Shoguns…he meets Oda Nobunaga and finds out the historical figure who he knows about from video games is actually a beautiful girl named Oda Nobuna, and all her retainers are beautiful young girls too…he decides to help her on her quest to conquer and unite Japan…its pretty cool, check it out…
This series is set in Sengoku Period Japan where various lords battle to dominate the country. The protagonist is Yoshiharu Sagara, a teenager from Modern Japan, who has somehow found himself thrown back in time. He considers himself somewhat of an expert on the era as he plays the computer game &#39;Nobunaga&#39;s Ambition&#39; which is set in the era. This isn&#39;t quite how he imagined the period though… Nobunaga has been replaced by a girl name Nobuna and a key character has died saving him for a start! He determines to use his knowledge of what should happen to help Nobuna defeat various enemies and unite the country.<br/><br/>The idea of throwing a teenager from modern day Japan into Feudal times where many key characters had been replaced by girls sounds rather original… unless you&#39;ve watched &#39;Battle Girls: Time Paradox&#39; which did it a year earlier and quite a bit better. Sagara is a fairly annoying protagonist; there is no explanation as to why or how he has travelled back in time and nobody seems too bothered by his arrival; he doesn&#39;t even change his attire… I dread to think what his school uniform must have smelled like after all his adventures! The rest of the cast are somewhat better; Oda Nobuna made a good female lead and those around her were entertaining; I&#39;m not sure why they looked so young though; some of them looked as though they were meant to be about six years old! As one might expect there is a moderate amount of fan service; some of it a little peculiar… one girl&#39;s breasts bounce even though she is wearing armour and a young nun has a habit that shows off her ample cleavage! While this is far from a must see series it does have its plus points; it is fairly funny at times and there is some decent action. Overall this passed the time well enough but wasn&#39;t as good as it could have been.<br/><br/>These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
